CBE After School Center
CBE has one of the pre-eminent after school programs in Brownstone Brooklyn, offering children in K-6th grades a wide variety of classes and recreational activities in a safe and caring environment, supervised by a highly qualified staff. Children are encouraged to express themselves and their creativity in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Children can sign up for a single class — or the whole afternoon.

CBE After School Program Schedule
The CBE After School Program operates on a three-semester basis, Monday through Friday from 3:00-5:45 PM (extended hours are available until 6:30 PM for an additional fee.)
CBE provides a pick-up service from many neighborhood schools, including PS321, 282, 372, 39, 10 and Berkeley Carroll. Our staff will pick-up from local schools that have at least five children attending After School per day. If there are fewer than five, pick-up is up to the discretion of the CBE After School Director.
Kindergarten and first grade: Classes for children in K-1st grade are offered from 3:30 – 4:30 PM. Children spend the second hour doing choice time or playing active games. During nice weather, children enjoy playing in Prospect Park. Counselors escort children to all activities. A supervised homework room is available to 1st graders. There is a minimum two-day registration for kindergarten and first grade. There is no minimum for single classes. Courses include cooking, computers, art, dance, sports, science, gymnastics, >karate, and instructional swim.
Second through sixth grades:Children in 2nd-6th grade can sign up for one class per day. When the child is not participating in a class, a supervised game room, gym and homework room are available. Courses include chess, photography, art, jewelry, dance, sports, gymnastics, computer, swim, video, theater, and computers.
Swimming and Sports
We are one of the few after school programs in the area that offers swimming on-site in a spacious, heated pool. We also offer sports in a fully-equipped gymnasium.
Single Class Option
Single-class registration allows a child to attend the program only during the scheduled class hour.
Mini camps:The CBE After School Center offers mini camps during winter, mid-winter, and spring breaks. Our full-day program includes trips, special events, and on-site activities such as art, swimming, gymnastics, cooking, and sports.
Half-day coverage:The CBE After School Center offers programming when school closes early for parent teacher conferences, staff development, and clerical days for a small additional fee.
Music lessons:The CBE After School Center offers individual music lessons for piano, guitar, violin, recorder, clarinet, and saxophone for a separate fee.
Homework clinic:The CBE After School Center offers a homework tutorial program — with a three-to-one child-to-staff ratio — to enhance basic skills.
Ha’Geemnasia (Hebrew Immersion) After School Program
H’Geemnasia is CBE’s Hebrew immersion after school program for children from ages 5-10. The program, which runs from 3:30-5:45 PM on Tuesdays and Fridays, gives small groups of kids the opportunity to learn Hebrew with Israeli teachers in a fun and safe environment. Kids can choose different classes from art to cooking to sports, all the while learning and speaking Hebrew. The group celebrates Shabbat and holidays together, learning Israeli customs and songs. Counselors will pick kids up from the following schools: PS 321, PS10, PS 282, PS 107, PS 316, PS 9, PS 118, Poly Prep, Berkeley Carroll.

This camp is for children enrolled in the CBE Early Childhood Center. Swimming, spinning, and smiles are all part of the active play opportunities your child will engage in at CBE Preschool Day Camp. Caring, professional educators help your child explore and experiment in a nurturing and supportive environment. Kids enjoy our air-conditioned gym, heated indoor pool, and nearby Prospect Park for outdoor fun.

CBE’s Elementary Day Camp, for kids entering kindergarten through third grades, are fun, exciting, and offer a wider variety of activities in a safe, supervised environment with highly qualified staff. Our program is designed to meet the needs of children entering kindergarten.
Our facilities include a spacious indoor pool, art room, computer room, darkroom and two large, multi-use air-conditioned spaces. Nearby Prospect Park is used for sports, nature, circus arts, and outdoor play.

Movin’ On Travel Camp
Camp Dates: July 5 – August 19. Closed July 3 and 4.
Movin’ On, the CBE Kids Travel Camp, makes the most of NYC and the surrounding area for kids entering 4th-9th grades. Using CBE as a base, campers travel daily to various points of interest in and around NYC. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, kids enjoy time at nearby Prospect Park and at CBE’s facilities, which include an art room, computer room, full size gym, and spacious indoor swimming pool.
The camp gives growing kids the chance to explore their independence within a supervised environment. Campers are grouped by grade (grades 4, 5 & 6 are one group, and grades 7, 8 & 9 are in another.) The staff includes a program director and mature, experienced counselors.

Summer Swim Intensive (ages 5 – 10)
$100 per week (3 lessons M, W, F)
This camp is for children ages 5-10. Drop your child off early for CBE camp on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for a 45-minute swim lesson with a CBE swim instructor and a maximum of 8 kids per class. Beginners focus on comfort in the water and basic swim skills: breath control, kicking, and floating. The intermediate group focuses on learning the four core strokes – freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke, as well as rhythmic breathing and diving. Children will be brought to their camp counselor following the lesson.
Ha’Geemansia (Hebrew Immersion) Camp (Entering K-4th grade)

Ha’Geemnasia is CBE’s Hebrew camp for children entering K to 4th grade. Children do not need to have previous experience with Hebrew. At Ha’Geemnasia, children enjoy a unique and fun Israeli-style program while gaining Hebrew language skills. Our warm and energetic camp environment is led by a highly experienced staff that includes teachers from our year-round Ha’Geemnasia Hebrew immersion after school program, Israeli emissaries from the Jewish Agency, and qualified specialists, who are passionate about Hebrew, Israeli culture, and Jewish Identity. Weekly themes revolve around Jewish values and Israeli culture and are incorporated into activities filled with fun, arts and crafts, dancing, singing, swimming twice a week, cooking, soccer, yoga, science, nature, and many exciting field trips. Children will also experience Israeli food, when they have aruchat eser (traditional Israeli 10 AM snack) daily. The camp celebrates a weekly Kabbalat Shabbat celebration every Friday afternoon and often has special events with visitors such as the Israeli Scouts Caravan.

CBE Mini Camps
CBE Mini Camps may be offered during Winter Break (between Christmas and New Year’s), President’s Week (February), and Spring Break (March or April). President’s Week is always four days, Tuesday through Friday and includes trips and on-site activities including swimming, art, sports, computers. There may also be special events such as magic shows and circus workshops. Winter and spring break vary depending on national holidays and religious observances.
CBE sometimes offers half-day programs during staff development days when the public school day ends at noon. Children who attend CBE’s After School will be picked up, eat lunch, and participate in on-site activities which may include swimming, sports, computers, art, and a movie. Regular CBE After School classes will be held on these days. CBE KIDS at PS 39 and 295 will enjoy a short trip somewhere nearby (i.e. bowling) and return to CBE by 4:00 PM.
