Friday Nights @ CBE – Radical Jewish Feminism: Its Brooklyn Roots

April 12 @ 6:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Join us for a very special Shabbat dinner conversation, after CBE Shabbat services on April 12!

Jewish women were instrumental in shaping women’s liberation–the most important social movement of our era. But historians and participants themselves have neglected their contributions as Jews. Prof. Joyce Antler will present the stories of dozens of these fierce pioneers, highlighting the contribution of 11 Brooklyn-born liberationists and identified Jewish feminists, examining the deep influence of Jewish background and values upon them.

Prof. Joyce Antler is the Samuel J. Lane Professor Emerita of American Jewish History and Culture and Professor Emerita of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Brandeis University. She will be in conversation with Dr. Debra L. Schultz, Assistant Professor of History at Kingsborough Community College.
