Wishes, Fears, Lessons, and Self-Recognition: Jewish Folk Tales and Contemporary Poems

April 25, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Join award-winning poet Jessica Greenbaum to read both fascinating Jewish folktales and the contemporary poems that bring them closer to our lived experience. Drawing on anthologies by pre-eminent editors including Nathan Ausubel, Yaffa Eliach, and Howard Schwartz (including” The Baal Shem Tov and the Werewolf,” by Martin Buber!), we will enjoy close readings of both stories and poems to illuminate the resonances encouraged by their pairings. All voices are welcome as we pool perceptions and find connections that may offer depth to all of our texts.
