Job Summary/Objective

The Aquatics Director oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and administration of CBE’s aquatics and gym facility, which includes indoor pool and basketball court. The Director oversees the hiring, training, testing, and certification of staff. Develops and implements various aquatic programs. Ensures that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Oversee and coordinate the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, and performance of employees of the facility including swim instructors and lifeguards; supervise the day-to-day activities of staff.

 Oversee and coordinate the administration of the facility, to include scheduling of facility operations and contract management.

 Oversee the maintenance of the pool, to include chemistry, climate control, cleanliness, and related maintenance.

 Ensure that all appropriate water, environmental, health and safety standards are maintained; ensure the pool is compliant with all local, state and national requirements and current on all necessary certifications required for operation.

 Implement and oversee a variety of CBE aquatics programs including After School and Early Childhood Center swim programs, Summer Swim Intensive Camp, and private swimming lessons.

 Develop new programming when necessary to accommodate as many clients as possible and to attract new clients.

 Provide excellent customer service to all CBE pool members and temple members including leading tours of the facility/programming to prospective members/clients and ensuring that every active member has a valid CBE Pool Pass.

 Maintain an active presence to parents and members through meet-and-greets and parent communication.

 Model appropriate child, youth and adult development practices.

 Supervise parties held in the pool and coordinate with the Events Department.

 Manage financial aspects of the facility administration, to include ensuring timely and accurate collection of fees for private lessons and rental fees for the events held in the facility.

 Participate in and teach aquatic and safety certification training sessions, as necessary.

 Manage relationships with the pool lessees including contract renewals, providing attentive customer service, and keeping them informed about the building closures.

 Develop and maintain records of operational facility usage; monitors and maintains inventories of pool equipment and supplies.

 Provide required reporting including filing incident reports when first aid is administered.

 Represent the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.

 Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

 Valid Water Safety Instructor Certificate

 Valid Lifeguarding Certificate

 Valid First/Aid + CPR Certificate (Must be renewed yearly)

 Valid Lifeguard Management Certificate

 Knowledge of the principles and practices of operating an aquatic facility.

 Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidelines for the operation of public swimming pools.

 Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

 Knowledge of optimal swimming pool water chemistry, temperature, and cleanliness standards.

 Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

 Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

 Strong customer service and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

 Skills in program planning and development.
