Communications and Marketing Manager
Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE) is a vibrant, cutting-edge Reform synagogue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We are seeking a Communications and Marketing Manager who is innovative, creative, collaborative, and hands-on. This person will report to the Executive Director and oversee the Communications coordinator. They are expected to plan and administer all communication and marketing goals and policies across all CBE programs. They will work closely with the members of our Engagement Team to implement the day-to-day internal and external communications of the synagogue, as well as with directors of several departments within the organization.
The ideal candidate for this role is extremely proficient with all elements of internal and external communications and marketing, understands and appreciates the nuances of working in a synagogue, is a team player, and has the drive, ability, and creativity to implement change. They must be able to create concise, engaging, and accurate content from verbal and written sources, to schedule and prioritize communications based on organizational goals, and move long term projects forward while completing short term projects on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and update weekly communications calendar.
- Oversee changes to the CBE Website for all departments using WordPress.
- Manage CBE social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Manage weekly and dedicated programmatic CBE email communications.
- Oversee marketing and promotion of CBE’s Early Childhood Center and CBE Kids Camps.
- Work with outside designers and program directors to conceive and implement specific advertising/marketing campaigns for the Early Childhood Center and CBE Kids Camps
- Create ShulCloud forms as needed to support CBE programming.
- Create and update graphics.
- Photograph and record video of CBE events for internal and promotional use, and for social media.
- Work with other departments on strategies for improvement on marketing and communications for their areas.
- Develop and maintain relationships with outside vendors in all elements of marketing and communications, including designers, photographers, advertising agencies, etc.
- Manage public relations efforts as they arise – including press releases, emergency communications, and management of media sources
- Provide staff support as needed for shabbat, for community-wide events & holidays.
- Maintain organized online files of CBE print materials, graphics, images, and videos using Dropbox and Google Drive.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Confidence in taking on a project and managing it from start to finish; 5+ years’ minimum experience in a marketing/communications management role (REQUIRED), preferably in a synagogue or non-profit setting;
- Demonstrated exceptional skills in writing and editing;
- Demonstrated proficiency in communicating and engaging a wide range of constituencies;
- Proficient in WordPress, MS Office and Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact, Slack, and Canva. Knowledge of InDesign a plus;
- Experience building social media strategies and developing integrated content marketing campaigns;
- Working knowledge of content-management systems for websites;
- Experience with developing and deploying communications campaigns across multiple platforms;
- Experience producing internal and external marketing materials and communications including brochures, one-pagers, and newsletters;
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once, change gears at a moment’s notice, and prioritize projects;
- Knowledge of and/or experience working in the Jewish community is desirable.
- Willingness to adjust hours based on seasonal needs (i.e. During the High Holy Days and staffing Shabbat services on occasion);

Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000 based upon demonstrable experience.
