Due to the inclement weather in the forecast, we are moving our Yom Kippur Youth and Family services to the CBE Ballroom on Wednesday, October 5. The schedule remains the same and can be found below.

We look forward to welcoming you to our 2022/5783 High Holy Day services. A complete schedule of services and their respective locations can be found below. Please note that CBE Sanctuary Services will be for members only and their guests. CBE members in good standing have received their tickets and have the opportunity to buy up to 4 Yom Kippur guest tickets by logging into MyCBE.

CBE Sanctuary Services will be livestreamed on YouTube, Facebook, and our website. A digital copy of the Mahzor will be provided during the livestream of our services.

Our Youth and Family Services, Brooklyn Jews, and Altshul services will be in-person only. Brooklyn Jews and Altshul services require separate registration. You can visit their respective websites for that information.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Adult Service Descriptions

CBE Sanctuary Services:
Led by Rabbi Timoner, Rabbi Kolin, and Cantor Breitzer, these services are held in CBE’s historic sanctuary and are primarily in Hebrew with some English. While children of all ages are welcome, these services are geared toward adults and teens. You must be a CBE member in good standing to attend these services.

Brooklyn Jews:
Brooklyn Jews is CBE’s vibrant community of adults in their 20s and 30s. Led by Rabbi Matt Green, Rabbinic Intern Evan Traylor, and Cantorial Intern Jordan Goldstein, Brooklyn Jews offers services at Union Temple House of CBE. Separate registration is required. For more information and to register, please click here. Brooklyn Jews services are in person only, and will not be livestreamed.

Altshul Service Description

Altshul:
An independent egalitarian minyan, Altshul offers lay-led services guided by halacha and traditional liturgy. Separate registration is required. For more information and to register, please click here. Altshul services are in person only, and will not be livestreamed.

Youth and Family Service Descriptions

Tots Service
For ages 0–5 and parents, these services last about 45-minutes and offer interactive and music-based activities, prayers, and stories led by Songleader Debbie Brukman and Rabbi Molly Kane, Director of Youth and Family Programs.

Grades K–2 Family Service
Led by Rabbi Molly Kane and Debbie Brukman, these services offer interactive and music-based activities, prayers, and stories for children in grades K-2 and their parents.

Grades 3–6 Family Service
Led by Rabbi Molly Kane and Guest Musical Artist Michelle Citrin, these services are designed for children in grades 3–6 and meet the spiritual needs of parents and youth alike.

Member Tickets

Tickets were emailed to members in good standing on September 15, 2022 and September 25, 2022. They will be sent again on Monday, October 3 so they are at the top of your inbox for Yom Kippur. If you are a member and have not received an email containing your tickets, kindly check your spam filter to make sure the email was not directed there by mistake. If it’s not in your inbox or spam filter, please contact Maribeth Batcha, Director of Member Services and Engagement, at mbatcha@cbebk.org

It is also possible that you have unsubscribed from our email list and that we were unable to send you tickets. Please click here to resubscribe to CBE emails. 

If you cannot find your tickets, you can always check in at the Member Services desk before services.

Guest Tickets

CBE members in good standing still have the opportunity to purchase up to 4 Yom Kippur guest tickets by logging into MyCBE. All guest tickets will be available at our Member Services table located outside the sanctuary prior to the service that you wish to attend. Guest tickets are pick up ONLY at the Member Services table. Please understand that we expect a full house for each service, and this guest ticket policy is the most efficient way for us to manage this process.

Memorial Wall

Memorial Walls provide a special place to honor those who have touched our lives. Memorializing the names of loved ones expresses gratitude for the gift of their precious lives, and the hope that their spirits will continue to inspire us. Members can add a plaque with the name of a loved one to the beautiful Memorial Walls located in our Sanctuary.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there assigned seating?

No, we do not have assigned seating at any of our services. We highly recommend that those with special seating needs arrive early so that we are able to assist you.

What is your COVID policy?

  • Wearing a mask is optional in all CBE buildings. Anyone who feels more comfortable wearing a mask should feel free to do so, but it is not required.
  • We strongly encourage anyone eligible for the Covid vaccine booster to get vaccinated and stay up-to-date with the CDC and your doctor’s advice.
  • As always, if you are not feeling well, please stay home.

I’m not a member of any synagogue, but I would like to spend the holidays at CBE. What can I do?

You must be a CBE member in good standing to attend CBE Sanctuary Services. If you’re not a member, this is a wonderful time to join! Please click here for information about CBE membership.

If you’re not quite ready to join, you can purchase tickets for our Brooklyn Jews Services (welcoming services geared toward those in their 20s–30s) and/or the Altshul Services (traditional egalitarian services). Youth and Family Services are also available for everyone, and you do not need a ticket.

Tell me about security.
We provide extra security during the High Holy Days, and all bags will be searched. No one will be permitted to enter any of our adult services without a ticket.

What if I can't find my ticket?
Please contact us at hhd@cbebk.org before Sep 23, 2022. After that date, we ask that you visit our Member Services table located outside the sanctuary prior to the start of the service that you wish to attend. 

Which Mahzor do you use?
We use Mahzor Lev Shalem in our main sanctuary service. Brooklyn Jews uses Mahzor Chadash. A digital copy of Mahzor Lev Shalem will be provided during the livestream of our services.
