Celebrating Shabbat

Shabbat at CBE is like nothing else! We welcome in this magical time of rest and renewal every Friday evening with activities for all ages and stages until Shabbat ends on Saturday night. Whether you are a parent of a toddler who wants a raucous and uplifting sing-a-long service, a 25-year-old seeking a meaningful Shabbat with your peers, an Israeli who is looking for a “taste of home,” or someone who wants an innovative service full of surprises, CBE has a Shabbat experience tailored just for you. We hope you’ll join us for this weekly opportunity to spiritually connect, learn, and build community.

Our Friday night adult services in the Chapel / Shabbat morning services in the Sanctuary are free and open to all. Whether you are a CBE member, or just looking for a warm and friendly place to attend services; whether you’re Jewish or a non-Jew, we welcome you and your family to join us anytime. No advanced RSVP is needed. We suggest business casual attire.

Check our calendar for for the most up to date information about all of our services.

Community Services

Shabbat Morning Services (Saturdays, 9:30 AM)

This vibrant weekly Shabbat celebration offers learning and communal prayer with tracks for children, adults, and families together. We begin Shabbat morning as one community with a family-friendly Shabbat service during which parents and children share in traditional liturgy and a Torah service where we celebrate B’nei Mitzvah, baby namings and other life-cycle events.

Lay-Led Minyan (Saturdays, 9:30 AM)

All are welcome to our warm, lay-led service. Congregants age 17 to 80 take active roles in leading prayers, reading Torah, reading Haftarah, and delivering words of Torah. All levels of participation encouraged. Come learn, celebrate and share our joy in our heritage.

Altshul

Altshul is an independent, egalitarian minyan that is guided by halacha and follows the traditional liturgy. It meets on the second and fourth Shabbat mornings of every month at CBE. Visit altshul.org for details.

Services for Kids & Families

We offer services specially designed for kids and families!

Shir L’Shabbat (Saturdays, 9:30 AM)

One of the most joyous events at CBE, Shir L’Shabbat is a service geared towards young families with infants and young children up to age 5. Led by Debbie Brukman, CBE’s extraordinary song leader, this is a weekly Shabbat party not to be missed. All parents that play instruments are most welcome to bring them and play along!
