10th Grade Goes to Capitol Hill!

I hope everyone is well rested after our jam packed weekend in Washington D.C.! This weekend was an amazing experience for teens. Traveling down to Washington with 21 teens, we were so close to being the biggest group at the L’Taken Seminar. The L’Taken Seminar is a weekend put on by the RAC, The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism. The weekend is structured around social justice issues that kids want to learn about, museum visits, social activities, and learning how to be an advocate. The weekend culminates on Monday when the students go to the Capitol and lobby their elected officials. Our group of 21 teens were broken into 7 groups and wrote 7 speeches about issues they cared about. The teens even got the opportunity to go into the Supreme Court! It was truly an amazing weekend!
