1st Grade: New Beginnings!

With the new school year underway and Rosh Hashanah coming up, students spent the day exploring new beginnings!

They dove into how fresh starts make them feel and illustrated “beginning” stories from their lives. They examined several Rosh Hashanah symbols and what they have in common. During Hebrew the class briefly spoke about why we learn Hebrew and practiced saying a few words and phrases for the class community including bruchim habaim- welcome & kita- class.
During the 11:30-12:30 K-2 Family Program we explored how the High Holidays invite all types of feelings that all deserve kavod- respect. Parents explored texts about feelings from the Talmud, Torah and modern psychology while students played improv games and sang songs to explore how all their different feelings have value and should be respected. At the end students and families rejoined to share their learning with each other!
