First week of Yachad!
Announcements
1. Third Grade at Yachad has Begun! Hi families! Classes have begun here at Yachad, and we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming your third graders to their first days here. It’s great to have you all here and we’re looking forward to learning together this year!
1. Yachad Picnic in the Park This Saturday, 9/14,come join us for an all-Yachad picnic in Prospect Park from 12:30 – 2:00 PM. We’ll be at the Garfield entrance to Prospect Park. Look for balloons! (Rain location: CBE Rotunda – so far no rain scheduled until 4:00 PM.) Your family should pack: Basket/bag lunch + blanket + water bottles. CBE Yachad will provide: Yachad staff and volunteer parents to help get-to-know-each-other, sweet treats (mindful of allergies/food needs that you shared with us)
2. Want to feel more comfortable at Shabbat morning services?
Rabbi Matt Green will be teaching an 8-week workshop geared toward explaining the service and familiarizing members with the prayers and melodies we use at CBE during services, 10:30-11:30, from Sept. 21 to Nov. 9. Free and open to all! Sign up here.
2. Siddurim Ceremony
In third grade, each student will receive their very own Mishkan T’filah siddur to pray with. We’ll host a special ceremony for this on September 27th, from 6pm to 8pm at CBE. Please put the date on your calendars, and we’ll have more information for you soon.
Jewish Studies
This week, we met and introduced ourselves! Students made placemats with their names, pronouns, and pictures of some of their favorite things. Some students drew animals, food, rainbows, books, and Hogwarts houses. We’ll be laminating these placemats, so students can use them all year. Wednesday students also started making their class brit, a list of agreements that we’ll be using to guide classroom behavior all year. If your child comes in on Tuesdays and Saturday instead, they’ll start brit-making on Saturday. /
Hebrew Through Movement with Edan
We’ll have pictures up next week, once the blog is password-protected, so look forward to that!
