Yachad Retreat:
4th-6th graders had so much fun on the Yachad Retreat! We spent our weekend playing games, doing adventure activities, praying together and building relationships amongst our community. The kids especially loved the ropes courses, gaga, and staying in cabins with their peers. We saw so many incredible interactions between students and new friendships forming throughout the weekend. It was truly special for all of the staff and students to have such a unique and fun experience together, and we know it will be remembered for a long time to come.
And then:
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Hannah was our Guest Speaker, and brought in paintings to tell the 7-Day Creation Story. We had such wonderful discussions about it.
For example, some of the classes talked briefly about how our current scientific knowledge can jive with our Creation story. (We’re always relieved that we can love science and religion.) Some classes talked about whether every day was equally important, and what would happen if we tried to take a day out. Some classes wondered that, since God created Light on Day 1, and waited for Day 4 to create the sun and moon, then, light must be something different than sunlight and moonlight… so, what was this light? And so on, with many interesting questions and student interpretations.
