6th Grade: Important Upcoming Dates and More!
Jewish Studies Update
In our last few lessons, we’ve continued learning about antisemitism. Students have explored the long history of hatred and discrimination against Jews, and learned how anti-Judaism, a religious prejudice, was transformed in the nineteenth century into antisemitism, a form of racism. Learning about the development of antisemitism will provide students with important context for the worldview of the Nazis when we begin to learn about the Holocaust. It will also help students recognize and understand the impact of stereotypes and myths about Jews that persist today.
On our last day of class, we played a Hanukkah trivia game (kahoot!) to test our knowledge and learn a few new things about the holiday. Your can play our Hanukkah Kahoot! here.
Family Interview Project Presentations
When we return from break, I will be emailing presentation date signups. The presentations will be during Yachad 1/13-1/25. Families are encouraged (but not required) to attend. More info to follow once the presentation schedule is finalized.
