Services for CBE Members:

Led by Rabbi Timoner, Cantor Breitzer, Rabbi Kolin, Rabbi Green, Rabbi Traylor, and Cantor Goldberg these services are held in CBE’s historic sanctuary and are primarily in Hebrew with some English. While children of all ages are welcome, these services are geared toward adults and teens. You must be a CBE member in good standing to attend these services. To register, click here.

Altshul Services:

An independent egalitarian minyan, Altshul offers lay-led services guided by halacha and traditional liturgy. Separate registration is required.

Brooklyn Jews Services:

Brooklyn Jews is CBE’s vibrant community of adults in their 20s and 30s. Led by Rabbi Matt Green, Hannah Winkler, and Rabbinic Intern Ethan Blake, Brooklyn Jews offers services at Union Temple House of CBE. Separate registration is required.

Tots Service

For ages newborn–5 and parents, these services last about 45-minutes and offer interactive and music-based activities, prayers, and stories led by Songleader Debbie Brukman and Rabbi Molly Kane, Director of Youth and Family Programs.

Grades K–2 Family Service

Led by Rabbi Molly Kane and Debbie Brukman, these services offer interactive and music-based activities, prayers, and stories for children in grades K-2 and their parents.

Grades 3–6 Family Service

Led by Rabbi Molly Kane and Guest Musical Artist Michelle Citrin, these services are designed for children in grades 3–6 and meet the spiritual needs of parents and youth alike. Please note: while all are welcome at Youth & Families services, we ask members and non-members to register.

Members in good standing may purchase High Holy Days tickets for up to four non-member guests.

Guest ticket sales will open August 11.

To ensure seating with guests, we urge members and guests to arrive 15 minutes before the start of services. While we expect there to be seating for all, we will have an overflow room in the Chapel in the Temple House for busy times and for those who need a break from the larger space.

Tickets for our Brooklyn Jews services in the Union Temple House are available to all, and can be purchased here.

CBE members may attend Brooklyn Jews Services for free, but we ask that they register for tickets using the Brooklyn Jews registration form.

Our Youth and Family Services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mornings are held under a large tent on the patio behind the Old Stone House in JJ Byrne Park and are open to the public. Services are broken down by age group, and are each about 45 minutes long. Our Yachad and camp team host children’s activities on site, and we encourage families to stay, play, and connect.

On Erev Rosh Hashanah and Kol Nidre, we also offer additional Tot Services for ages 0–5, and on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, we have a service and seder for kids aged 0–12 and their families. Location will be provided upon registration.

Memorial Walls provide a special place to honor those who have touched our lives. Memorializing the names of loved ones expresses gratitude for the gift of their precious lives, and the hope that their spirits will continue to inspire us. Members can add a plaque with the name of a loved one to the beautiful Memorial Walls located in our sanctuary. Please note the production of the plaque to delivery turnaround time is at least three months from the point of ordering the plaque.

Attention horn blowers of all ages… We welcome more participation in our multi-generational community of ba’alei t’kiyah (shofar sounders) who gather on the rooftops around CBE for the first Day of Rosh Hashanah as well as on the Sanctuary bimah at the end of Yom Kippur. No, we do not have assigned seating at any of our services. We highly recommend that those with special seating needs arrive early so that we are able to assist you. If you’re not quite ready to join, you can purchase tickets for our Brooklyn Jews Services (welcoming services geared toward those in their 20s–30s), join our Altshul Services (traditional egalitarian services), or join our our Israeli Services (services in Hebrew for Israelis). Youth and Family Services are also available for everyone, and you do not need a ticket, although registration is encouraged, link to come.

Large print machzors will be available for all sanctuary services. Sanctuary services are accessible via lift. Please enter at the blue vestibule on Garfield Place. ADA compliant restrooms can be found in the sanctuary building.

The Jewish Braille Institute can also help you or a loved one who is blind or visually impaired celebrate the Jewish holidays with FREE machzorim (prayer books), Selichot, Taschlich prayers, Yizkor prayers, a 16-month holiday calendar, and much more, all in accessible formats. We provide extra security during the High Holy Days, and all bags will be searched. No one will be permitted to enter any of our adult services without a ticket.

Please contact us by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8th. After that date, we ask that you visit our Member Services table located outside the sanctuary prior to the start of the service that you wish to attend.

We use Machzor Lev Shalem in our Sanctuary service and Machzor Mishkan HaNefesh for In the Round. Brooklyn Jews uses Machzor Chadash. Digital copies of machzorim will be provided during the livestreams of our services.
