A Special Place for the Torah
This week we spoke about the importance of Simchat Torah and designed an aron (where the Torahs are safely kept) to show how we care for such an important part of our tradition!
In Hebrew through Movement we continued with the aleph-bet and added the word, lashevet (to sit) through fun movement activities!
Questions to ask your child:
- What are some things that your friends shared that are really special that they have at home? How do they keep it safe?
- What did you mention as the thing you have at home that is special to you?
- What did you think the last Jewish holiday in this LONG month of holidays should be about?
- What is the last holiday (that we’ll celebrate Monday night) about?
- Can you remember any Hebrew words you used today?
- What was the design your class made for holding the Torah, which is special because it’s full of Jewish stories?
Family Program
During this week’s family program parents and students explored the connections between environmentalism and Sukkot. Students heard a story and did a drawing craft to express the hopes and promises they have for our earth. Parents explored biblical and Talmudic texts about humans’ relationship toward the earth and brainstormed ways they already model their environmentalist values in their homes and shared tips as a group!
