Finishing Israel and Starting Purim!

Last Saturday our First Graders finished up their unit on Israel and began learning about Purim!

Jewish Studies with Ashley

Hi First Grade B families,

Last week, students finished up their unit on Israel by interacting with a map. They labeled Jerusalem and the Dead Sea (some also labeled the Sea of Galilee, Tel Aviv, and Haifa) and they asked really thoughtful questions about the West Bank and Gaza. I am impressed with them for working towards an understanding of something so complex! They also drew pictures within their maps of something that represents Israel based on what we’ve talked about our past three classes.

Jewish Studies with Tzachi

Hello Kita-Alef Families!
Last Saturday we started to talk and to get familiar with the story of the queen Ester and all of the characters in the Megila.
This Saturday we will continue to talk about this subject and continue to learn about Purim.
See you all this Shabbat!
Ha-Moreh Tzachi.

Hebrew Through Movement

This week we talked about colors:
Red- Adom – אָדֹם
Yellow- Tsahov – צָהֹב
Green – Yarok – יָרֹק
White- Lavan – לָבָן
Black – Shahor – שָׁחֹר
Blue- Kachol – כָּחֹל
We also learned the word Crown – Keter – כֶּתֶר, and then played a game with crowns in different colors. During the game, we learned that in Hebrew the adjective comes after the noun, for example: Green crown – Keter Yarok –  כֶּתֶר  יָרוֹק

Happy Purim!!
