Finishing up Purim

Last Saturday our First Graders finished learning about Purim, just in time for the Purim Carnival!

Jewish Studies with Ashley

Hi 1st Grade B fams!
On Saturday, students finished learning about the story of Purim. They had all sorts of great questions about how the Jewish people have survived even though there have been so many times when people have wanted to destroy us. We discussed how Queen Esther comes to take pride in being Jewish, and we talked about when we feel proud to be Jewish. Students drew pictures of when they are most proud to be Jewish. For most of them, it was during Jewish holidays. For Jake (our regular madrich) and I, we shared that we are truly most proud to be Jewish when we are at Yachad with your wonderful kiddos ๐Ÿ™‚

Next week, students will move onto Passover! We will discuss the story of Passover and learn what the four questions are. Hope youโ€™re having a great week!

Jewish Studies with Tzachi

Shalom Kita-Alef families!
Lest Saturday we finished our unit about Purim. We kept talking about queen Ester and about the Megilah and we finished our class by making crowns and masks.
This Shabbat we will start talking about Passover. It will be one of several lessons about Passover and we will start talking about the story of Bnei-Israel in Mitzraim.
See you all this Saturday.
Ha-Moreh Tzachi.

Hebrew Through Movement

In Hebrew through movement we are still learning about colors. We reviewed the words: red (adom-ืื“ื•ื)

yellow(tzahov-ืฆื”ื•ื‘)

green (yarok-ื™ืจื•ืง)

blue (kachol-ื›ื—ื•ืœ)

hand (yad-ื™ื“)

leg/foot(regel-ืจื’ืœ)

We learned the meaning of the word โ€œalโ€ (on/over). After leaning all of the necessary words, we played a game of twister with all of the new words and had a great time!
