CBE is a spiritual, cultural, and intellectual hub for Jewish life
Congregation Beth Elohim, fondly known as CBE, offers authentic, meaningful and outside the box Jewish experiences for those in our Brooklyn community and beyond.
We are deeply committed to education for all ages, community-building, spiritual life, and social justice. We are inspired to learn about our tradition while we engage with the present and positively impact our future. Our Reform congregation welcomes seekers from all Jewish movements, from other faiths, and at all levels of Jewish experience, including those who are new to our traditions and those who are questioning.
Annual Appeal
Thank you to everyone who has already given to this year's Annual Appeal. Your ongoing support determines our success and ensures that CBE can continue to thrive for generations to come. If you haven't yet given to the Annual Appeal, we hope you will consider making a gift today.
Hanukkah Collection Drive and Sing-Along
Between 11/30 and 12/15, CBE’s Yachad Program, ECC, and Refugee Task Force are mobilizing to collect much needed winter gear, diapers, and toiletries for recently arrived asylum-seekers and immigrants in NYC—and you and your family can help!
And our Youth and Family Great Hanukkah Sing-Along returns for the fourth year running! Join us for candles, Havdalah, and some sufganiyot. Plus, the Playground of Light event is specifically for children with special needs, disabilities, and sensory sensitivities.
Early Childhood Center
Now in its 47th year, the ECC offers a warm, joyful, inclusive preschool program that instills confidence, builds a foundation for critical-thinking skills, and fosters a life-long love of learning.
Rabbi Timoner's Sermons on Israel & Gaza
Since October 7, Rabbi Timoner’s sermons have touched on a wide range of Jewish teachings to offer perspective, guidance, and moral clarity during this impossible moment.
All G-ds Children Screening at CBE
CBE’s partnership with Antioch Baptist Church—“an unprecedented attempt to heal centuries of racism and antisemitism”—is captured in Ondi Timoner’s documentary All God’s Children. Join us for a special screening in our Sanctuary.
Shabbat at CBE
Join us for Shabbat services every Friday night in the CBE Chapel at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings in the CBE Sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. Shir L'Shabbat for families with young children (newborn–5) takes place on Shabbat mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the CBE Social Hall.
