Kindergarten: Responsibility Tu B’Shevat

This Saturday we read the story of Rebecca and Isaac. We talked about Rebecca as the representation of kindness by her consideration in offering water to the camels at the well, and how kindness can sometimes mean going beyond what is asked of you. (Raya’s Class)

Questions to ask at home:

  • Was Rebecca a responsible person?
  • What does kindness mean?
  • What does Rebecca specifically teach us about kindness? How did she show this?

Elie’s Class-

This past week we began to learn about Tu B’Shevat and different ways to take care of the world. We read a story about a girl named Netta and her plant and made our own trees to take care of out of clay. Then we did aleph bet yoga and learned the word Etz – tree!

Questions to ask at home:

What are some ways we can celebrate Tu B’Shevat?
Can you show me one of the Hebrew letter yoga poses?
What is our responsibility to the earth?

K-2 Family Program

“A group of people were travelling in a boat. One of them took a drill and began to drill a hole beneath himself. His companions said to him, ‘What are you sitting and doing?’ The man replied, ‘What concern is it of yours? Am I not drilling under my own place?’ They said to him: ‘But you will flood the boat for us all!” This week students and parents explored this story and others while diving into achrayut for the environment. Click here for the parent class and here for the student session! We look forward to wrapping up our Achrayut unit this Shabbat!
