Mitzvot continued!
Last session, we continued learning about mitzvot and we explored the words for different flavors in Hebrew!
In the Hebrew portion of our last class we practiced flavors in Hebrew : matok (מתוק sweet), mar (bitter מר), hamutz (חמוץ sour), maluach (savory/salty, מלוח)- with an origami fortune teller.
The kids were asked to pick one flavor of these four that was drawn on the top part, and a number in Hebrew. Inside the fortune teller there were different foods and the kids had to say “ani ohev/et x” or “ani lo ohev/et y” when they got a certain food (matok/ 5= tutim—>ani ohevet tutim!)
For choice time we read books about Jewish mitzvot in the reading corner, practiced numbers in Hebrew in a matching game on the computer and made valentines cards in the craft corner.
We concluded our class with an artsy Hebrew project: we folded and colored our own Hebrew taamim (flavors טעמים) fortune tellers to take home- I hope you got to play it with your kids!
