With the 2024 elections quickly approaching, CBE’s Democracy Team has identified a number of ways for our community to combat voter suppression and help make sure that the November election is fair, free, and accessible to all.
Two key events:
Democracy Team Gathering: Get Out the Vote!
Thursday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. sharp in the Ballroom
In this two-hour session, we’ll spend ample time learning the tools of “deep canvassing,” a way of encouraging individuals to vote through meaningful, values-driven, relational conversation. Also, hear urgent updates from our democracy protection partners, who will provide high-impact non-partisan actions for everyone at CBE.

Democracy Team Tuesdays
Starting September 17 through Election Day at 6:30 p.m. in the Boardroom
Join us for postcard writing to combat misinformation and voter suppression, in partnership with Reclaim our Vote.

Sign Up to be a Poll Worker through The Jewish Partnership for Democracy: The Jewish community is showing up this election season to make sure that every voter has a free, fair, safe, and accessible experience at the polls. Postcard with Reclaim our Vote: There are five active campaigns, in Florida, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, and Virgina. In the face of increasing voter suppression of people of color in these areas, we are sending non-partisan postcards to Black voters, informing them of the issues at stake, early voting, and registration information. Sign up here.
Phone Bank with Reclaim our Vote: Phone banking reinforces the postcard messages (see above). Make calls with the National Guided Phonebanks on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. Sign up here.
Voter Outreach with Brooklyn Voter Alliance (BVA): Upcoming voter registration and outreach dates are below. To sign up for a date and/or the BVA email with information on other upcoming events, contact bkvotersalliance@gmail.com.

Voter Education and Registration at Rikers with Legal Aid: To participate in voter outreach and registration at Rikers, please sign up. The Legal Aid Society is organizing this work, and groups are limited in size. This work begins in August, but we recommend signing up now if you are interested. Upcoming dates: 8/21, 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23.
