Urgent: Warm Clothing and Toiletries Drive for Immigrant Families
Many recently arrived asylum-seekers and immigrants in NYC are in great need of warm clothing, diapers and toiletries. Some of these families are living in shelters nearby, and some are living in neighboring communities – all of them can use a lot of love this season! CBE’s Yachad Program, ECC, and Refugee Task Force are mobilizing around this need, and you and your family can help!
What items are most needed?
*Please bring the items listed below to the Social Hall between November 30 and December 15.
- Gloves, hats and socks (warm) for all members of the family (children, women and men)
- Diapers of all sizes
- Baby formula
- Laundry detergent
- Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, Dove or Ivory bar soap, period pads, Advil, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shaving cream, chapstick)
Then, please help to pack them up:
DECEMBER 15 | 3-5 p.m. | Join us in the Social Hall to sort and bag items for delivery. Younger participants will be encouraged to make cards and decorate the bags!
And, we’ll need some drivers:
Sign up here to drive donations to our partner organizations or e-mail Bonnie Kerker at bonniekerker@yahoo.com with questions.
A tip for our Yachad families:
You may want to go to the store together with the list of urgently needed items and include your child(ren) in choosing the items to pick, talk about what’s happening with refugees today or why caring for refugees matters to us as a Jewish community, and then bring them together to CBE to drop them off knowing that the Yachad community will be helping to create care packages for delivery on December 15.
