Starting our unit on Israel!

Last Saturday our First Graders started learning about Israel.

Hi First Grade B Families!

This week, students demonstrated excellent group problem-solving. Every week after choice time, we try to beat the previous week’s clean-up time. We had been consistently improving our speed week by week, until this week. When we arrived at the rug 35 seconds over time, we did a group brainstorm about what we as a kehilah could do to make sure we do better next week. Students came up with two new implementations: 1) the students who are playing with the more labor-intensive clean-ups (blocks) will begin cleaning up 2 minutes earlier, and 2) if we need to transport a mess back to its original place, we will have at least 2 students actually putting the materials on the shelf while others do the transporting. I am excited for students to implement these changes this week and evaluate how well they worked!
We began our unit on Israel this week! We talked about the languages spoken in Israel (Hebrew, English, Arabic) and located it on a map. We discussed how Israel is significant not just to the religion of Judaism, but to many other major religions, too. Next week, we will continue learning about Israel; we will listen to Israeli music and continue discussing what Israel is like.

Jewish Studies with Tzachi

Hello Kita Alef (first grade) families!
The previous Saturday we continued to learn about Israel. We got to know the flag of Israel, its national dish, the general outline of Israel and we talked about its capital city -Jerusalem and how it is important to all of us.
Next week we will continue our current unit about Israel. We will talk about the differences and similarities between Israel and New York and we will summarize this unit by learning about the diverse topography of Israel.
See you all this Shabbat.
Ha-Moreh (the teacher) Tzachi.
