Sukkot Guests
This past week we learned about Sukkot! In class, we read some stories about sukkot, talked about how we would decorate our dream sukkah and who we would invite to it.
In Hebrew through movement, we went over delet (door), kiseh (chair), shulchan (table) and ritzpah (floor). The kindergarteners now know how to use the verbs that we learned previously to walk and run to different parts of the room.
Questions to ask your child:
What is a sukkah?
How is a sukkah like our home? How is it different?
What was something from nature you wanted to have in
your sukkah?
Who did you want to invite to your imaginary sukkah? Why?
Family Program
Students and parents explored the themes of vulnerability and trying again. Students enjoyed using improv, stories and song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIjBNJgloqo) to learn about making mistakes and the practice of giving things another try. In chevrutot (learning pairs) parents studied ancient and modern texts about re-encountering challenges, being open about mistakes and vulnerability in parenting. Everyone went home with their kavod goal sheets to continue thinking about these themes as a family.
