The Importance of Tu B’Shvat
Tzachi (1A)
Shalom Kita-Alef (1st grade) Families!
This Saturday we learned about Tu B’Shvat, its origin, the connection to Israel and why we celebrate this holiday. Next Saturday we will start the most special day of the week – Shabbat. We will learn about the importance of Shabbat as a separate and special time of the week. They will also learn about the blessings that are said on this day and why they are important.
Looking forward to seeing you all!

Hi First Grade B families! I had such a wonderful Saturday seeing these students again. I missed them very much and spending time with them was the highlight of my week! Since we couldn’t go to the gym, students had free choice time in the classroom. Lots of students made art and others built with blocks and train tracks. It was a joy to play with them.
We talked all about trees in honor of Tu B’Shvat, including what we give to and receive from trees and how we can protect trees. We discussed how even though it’s winter here, we celebrate Tu B’Shvat now because it’s the start of the growing season in Israel. Students drew pictures of themselves protecting a special tree of their own. They had very creative ideas about how to do this.
Next Saturday (1/26) we will talk about how and why we celebrate Shabbat and learn the blessings.Hope you all enjoy your long weekend!

Just one brief announcement from Hannah Isaacs, Yachad Teen Educator & URJ Camp Liaison:
On February 9th the Director of URJ Crane Lake Camp, Debbie Shriber, will be coming to CBE to tell us all about Eisner, Crane Lake, and Sci-Tech! This is a great opportunity for students and parents to ask questions and learn about the URJ camping system. We will be providing lunch as the presentation will be directly after Yachad on Saturday February 9th in the Ballroom.
