Welcome to 6th Grade!

Welcome to 6th grade Yachad! This week we kicked off our learning by getting to know each other through a series of games and team building activities.

Next week, we will begin our first unit from Facing History and Ourselves: Holocaust and Human Behavior. These lessons take students on a parallel journey through an exploration of the universal themes that raise profound questions about human behavior. The lessons prepare students to be lead through an examination of the Holocaust in the second half of the school year.

Our first unit is Individual and Society. In this unit, students will consider three questions:

• • Who am I?
  • Who are you?
  • Who are we?

Students will examine how our answers to those questions are influenced by the categories and labels we learn from the society we live in. These lessons will serve as a foundation for analyzing the holocaust.
