You’re Invited: Esau v Jacob Mock Trial

We are very excited to invite all 5th grade families to our Esau v Jacob mock trial! The Tuesday/Saturday class mock trial will take place on Tuesday March 5th at 5:30pm in the Chapel. The Monday/Wednesday class mock trial will be on Wednesday, March 6th at 5:30pm in the Chapel.

The trial should last approximately one hour with a pizza dinner to follow. We’ve pushed the time to 5:30 to allow for more parents to be able to come after work, so please plan to have your children stay until 6:30pm that night. Any siblings who finish Yachad at 6pm are more than welcome to come watch for the last half hour as well!
Our students have been learning the story of Jacob and Esau and each class section has been assigned to represent either the Plaintiff or the Defense in our mock trial case to determine whether Jacob is guilty of wrongfully stealing Esau’s birthright. All students will have roles in the trial, playing lawyers, witnesses and even forensic scientists. In addition to the biblical story, we have spent time learning about the modern court system in America, as well as the history of the Jewish court system and ancient laws that date back to when Moses appointed the first judges.
Please follow the below links to RSVP for the trial and the pizza dinner that will follow. Additionally, we are asking for parent volunteers to serve on our mock trial jury. These volunteers will take a few minutes to deliberate after the trial and determine the verdict. You can volunteer to be a juror via this link as well.
