Learning about Tu B’shvat!

It was lovely to see the kids after a weekend away! In our last session we continued to review numbers in Hebrew and danced to a Tu B’shvat song on the rug together (moving-growing from seeds to trees (etz-etzim עץ, עצים).
We also learned (to some of the kids, rehearsed) a selection of fruits and vegetables, in singular and plural, played a matching game using these f&v and later made our own sets during art time, to take home!
During choice time we crafted garden (gan/gina גן, גינה) related objects like flowers and trees with play-dough and pipe cleaners, played Hebrew letters matching game and read books about tu b’shvat. We had a wonderful time!

If you’d like to play the matching game with the kids, these are the fruits and vegetables we included:

strawberries, peaches, apples, pomegranate, avocado, corn, cucumbers, carrots, pears ; in Hebrew, respectively:
תות,תותים tut-tuttim
אפרסק,אפרסקים afarsek-afarsekim
תפוח,תפוחים tapuach-tapuchim
רימון,רימונים rimon/rimonim
אבוקדו,אבוקדו(אים) avocado-im
תירס,תירסים (קלחי תירס-tiras, tirasim- kilvhey tiras would be a more correct way to say, but tiraim is legible!)
מלפפון,מלפפונים (melaphephon, melaphephonim)
גזר, גזרים (gezer, gzarim)
אגס, אגסים (agas,agasim) Similarly to other matching games we are looking to find a matching pair – tut and tuttim, for example but in this case, the kids should be able to say the name of the fruit/veg in order to keep the pair!
