We will #ShowUpForShabbat
Earlier this week, American Jewish Committee launched #ShowUpForShabbat, an initiative encouraging people to come together this weekend in solidarity with the Jewish community of Pittsburgh and Jews across the nation.
On Friday, November 2, we will celebrate Shabbat and the Installation of Rabbi Matthew L. Green as Assistant Rabbi of Congregation Beth Elohim. This is the official moment when Rabbi Green becomes our rabbi and we become his community.
On Saturday, November 3, we will continue to celebrate during our Shabbat Morning and Shir L’Shabbat services (both services begin at 9:30 AM).
AJC said, “Our grief is turning to action. Among our multiple tools, we can fight anti-Semitism by passionately, joyously, coming together in our synagogues.”
As Jews, and as New Yorkers, we are resilient and we are strong.
We will not be silent.
We will go forward together, our tree of life held high, toward pleasantness, and toward peace.
We will #ShowUpForShabbat.
Below is a collection of social media we have gathered from the past week in response to, and in spite of, the unfathomable murders at Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh.
