With our year shortly coming to a close, we places the final touches on our year-end Sustainability project.
In lieu of the tragedy that occurred at the Chabad synagogue in Poway, California, we opened up class with the New York Times Op-Ed the penned by the rabbi of the community, Rabbi Yisrael Goldstein.
The 9th Grade Yachad class has spent the past year delving into today’s most pivotal social justice issues affecting Jewish and non-Jewish communities alike. Spanning from racial to economic to food justice, we have treaded on numerous topics, and our students recently decided how we will be spending the rest of our year: asking CBE to begin recycling plastic!
9th Graders are busy learning about community organizing! We discussed the entire “Selma” movie for those students who might not have of been there. We also talked about the Cycle of Community Organizing.
The students got the opportunity to learn about the world of community organizing and social justice issues that are happening around them.
