Class parents
At the center of the classroom-family relationship is a pair of key collaborators who help you navigate the wonderful world of preschool.
Each class has two designated “class parents” who might:
- Create a communication chain for the school year
- Announce upcoming events
- Organize a snack rotation
- Send key reminders
- Organize teacher gifts
- Provide a connection between the CBE Chesed (kindness) team and class families
Volunteer Opportunities
From the Purim carnival to reading aloud in a classroom, we encourage you to take an active role in building our preschool community. Whether you can give an hour a week or one per year, there are many ways to participate and offer your time both in and outside of the classroom. In the classroom you can offer to read a book to the class or show off your professional skills. Preschoolers love to meet doctors, firefighters, engineers, etc.
Outside the classroom we have several events throughout the year organized by our Parent Committee, ranging from social justice projects to holiday celebrations. For more information or to volunteer on our committee, please reach out to Director Jaci Israel, ecc@cbebk.org, or Rabbi Molly Kane, mkane@cbebk.org.
Educational Programs
In addition to teaching your children, we also offer educational opportunities for you! We have an extensive array of workshops and activities for families including:
- Parenting workshops with our consulting school psychologist
- Next-steps sessions to help families prepare to move on to public or independent school Kindergarten programs
- Information sessions about Yachad, dual-language classes, and staff professional development
Shir L’Shabbat
One of CBE’s most popular, joyous events, Shir L’Shabbat is a service geared towards young families with infants and young children. Led by CBE’s extraordinary song leader Debbie Brukman, this is a weekly Shabbat party not to be missed. All parents who play instruments are most welcome to bring them and play along!
Tot Shabbat Services
Join families from across the CBE community on select Friday evenings throughout the year for Tot Shabbat services, which are specifically designed for children newborn to 5 accompanied by a parent/guardian or caregiver. Together we will light the candles, sing, dance, and play––all before bedtime. And, on extra special nights, we’ll have dinner together too!
Schedule:
- Services begin at 5 p.m. and do not require an RSVP.
- Dinners follow services on select Friday evenings beginning 5:30 p.m. and require an RSVP.
Check the calendar for exact dates and to RSVP!
